Round up of the year: 2018

2018 has been, as usual, an incredibly busy one for Jake. The second half of the year has focussed largely on starting to build a new body of work for his next solo show.

Initially drafted for December, the dates have been pushed back to allow more time to explore some exciting and evolving ideas. These currently centre around landscapes and seascapes by British masters including Turner, Constable and Gainsborough.

Jake has several field visits planned for the start of 2019, including a trip inspired by Turner to St Michael's Mount in Cornwall, with his own oils in hand.

The new exhibition dates have now been confirmed by the gallery, and will be held at Unit London's impressive new Mayfair space. Opening on 31st May 2019, the show will run until 23rd June. Further details will be posted here when available.

To round off the year, Jake has worked with Unit London to produce a retrospective book of his work to date. Alongside selected images from the last few years, it also includes essays by Rachael Thomas, Senior Curator at the Irish Museum of Modern Art; Professor Catherine McCormack PhD; and Tristam Aver, Exhibitions Curator at Nottingham Castle Museum & Art Gallery.

The book is available to purchase via the Unit London Store.
